Dirt Rally 1980's Rally Finland

I've made another event for your rallying pleasure. It will begin Tuesday at 00:00 eastern and run for exactly 1 week. Tuning is open and stage 3 does not have a service area.

1980's Rally Finland

Cars:

- BMW E30 Evo Rally

- Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500

- Renault 5 Turbo

Rally:

Stage 1 - Hamelahti (14.9 km) - Morning, Overcast *Service*

Stage 2 - Paskuri (7.5 km) - Midday, Sunny *Service*

Stage 3 - Kailajarvi (7.5 km) - Afternoon, Clear

Stage 4 - Iso Oksjarvi (8 km) - Night, Clear *Service*

Stage 5 - Kontinjarvi (15 km) - Afternoon, Clear *Service*

Do people do any practice for these events or just get straight to it?

Personally, I sort of make a point of not practising for these. Rally is largely about learning on the fly. At most I'll typically do a shakedown or two just to get a general feel.

Sweet. I'll have to jump on and run these. As for practice, I usually just run the car I'm planning on using for a few quick stages to get used to it, then run the rally.

That rally was rough on my nerves, my machine and ultimately my self esteem. Nevertheless, SO much fun. High speeds with several absolutely massive jumps. I came in at just under 29 minutes, with several bumps and bruises. I recorded each stage if you'd like to take some notes on what not to do.

I was doing ok till the last stage, think I was losing a bit concentration, maybe should have done it in two stints. But I'm liking these funzies

I was just checking the stage by stage times and it looks like you and I had a hell of a battle going up until stage 5.

Glad you're enjoying them! Keep racing in them and I'll keep setting them up. :)

Think your 1st stage was a good one, had you also done the daily delta that day when I checked you had beaten me there also by quite a bit. (It was Finland also)

Yeah my first stage felt pretty decent (though I see Clyde just cleared stage 1 33 seconds quicker lol).

I did it all in one sitting, so I more of less got a bit more sloppy in each stage.

Couldn't do it in one sitting, I have a cough that is absolutely killing me. Shame, would've been a fun half hour.

No, wait. It would've been horrifying. Especially with the ballistic Renault. I already said "perkele" a billion times, I don't need to say it a billion times more! I even rolled the car in the middle of stage 3, but thankfully that was a slow roll and I didn't break anything important or get a puncture.

Sorry I missed it guys. I was hoping to do it last minute yesterday but then had a buddy call me up from out of town to grab dinner. I'll try(and fail) at Pikes Peak.

I too missed it. I thought I'd have chance to do it last night but had to work late 🙁
